


Sports medical checkup of children for school sport at the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine
Today, as in previous days, the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine continues with medical checkup of children. The objective of this activity is to improve health care and proper guidance of young children in sport.

The City of Belgrade and the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine have signed a protocol on cooperation which enables better health care for young people and supports the development of sports in Belgrade. The protocol was signed by the mayor of Belgrade, Mr. Sinisa Mali, and the director of the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine, Mr. Goran Bojovic. This protocol defines regular sports medical checkup of schoolchildren in primary and secondary schools in Belgrade.

“The protocol gives the Institute the opportunity to perform sports medical checkups and motor ability and psychological testing of pre-school and school children in all the municipalities in Belgrade, in order to determine whether and what sport children are capable to practice, in order to avoid possible injuries. So far the Institute has concluded medical checkups of school-children in the municipality of Čukarica. Our goal is to start taking care of children's health as early as of pre-school age and to direct them to specific sports” said the director Bojovic.

A regular sports medical checkup of school-children includes anthropometric measurements, ECG and general medical examination. These checkups will be done on over 2.000 children. So far the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine did sports medical checkups at the municipalities of Mladenovac, Sopot, Umka, Zemun, Novi Beograd, Cukarica and Rakovica. The most important aspect of this activity is to establish the state of health of our children and to involve them in large numbers is sports activities and competitions .
