High marks to our country: Sport & Medicine ranked Serbia in world society

Goran Bojovic, director of the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine, full of impressions returned from the international meeting in Ljubljana. Serbian Institute of of Sport and Sports Medicine received the highest marks at the 34th World Congress of Sports Medicine, which is organized by the International Association for Sports Medicine (FIMS) held in Slovenia.

- We had a presentation that was declared the best at the Congress. Also present were the French, Italians, Germans, Croats, Austrians, representatives of Hong Kong, Iran. All of them and many others have concluded that we are on the right track, while the President of the world Federation of Sports Medicine said that our Minister of Youth and Sports Vanja Udovicic and I are the most deserving that sports medicine in Serbia has survived, because all the countries in the region, mostly extinguished this institution - said Bojovic.

Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine, as a Collaborating Center of FIMS, had eight representatives present at the Congress, and an associate of the Medical Faculty in Belgrade whose scientific-research in doctoral study is conducted at the SISSM.

"Our presentation opened the door to Serbia and Belgrade to host one of the next Congresses of FIMS. Sport, biomechanical analysis and medicine are closely linked, only one thread apart, and by combining these factors we get the right thing for professional sport. Our Institute is the only one where sports and medicine are closely linked, but we will continue to provide the best conditions for professional athletes. During our stay in Ljubljana we were guests of the Faculty of Sport in Ljubljana, where we were warmly welcomed. This is another sign of how appreciated we are, "said Bojovic.

In house seminar of the first category titled "Emergencies in sport"

Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine organized a first category seminar, titled "Emergencies in sport" at the premises of the Institute, at the outdoor swimming pool complex Košutnjak. The Health Council of the Republic of Serbia accredited the seminar (no. of accreditation A-1-847/16) for doctors, dentists, biochemists, nurses and medical technicians with 11 points for lecturers and 6 points for participants. It was accredited for 250 attendants and the attendance was free of charge.

The lecturers were Col. doc. Dr Milić Veljović, specialist in anesthesiology and intensive therapy, Col. Ass. Dr Dragan Djordjevic, specialist anesthesiologist reanimatologist, Col. Ass. Dr Ivo Udovicic, specialist anesthesiologist reanimatologist, Dr Rade Vukovic, specialist anesthesiologist reanimatologist, Primarius Dr MD Krasimirka Grujic, specialist anesthesiologist reanimatologist, Dr Irena Popović, specialist anesthesiologist reanimatologist, Dr Milica Milenkovic - Stanković specialist anesthesiologist reanimatologist, Dr Igor Vasković, specialist anesthesiologist reanimatologist, Dr Krstić Ivana Lazic, specialist anesthesiologist reanimatologist, Major Nebojsa Damjanovic, specialist anesthesiologist reanimatologist (all of the, from the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade) and ass. Dr Goran Vukomanović, pediatrician.

Among the speakers were two international instructors for BLS (Basic Life Support) and ALS(Advanced Life Support). After the completion of the theoretical part they did practical demonstrations on mannequins. The attendance has the opportunity to perform resuscitation and intubation on the mannequins. Interesting topics and excellent speakers made ​​this a highly attended seminar. It was attended by about 250 doctors, biochemists, dentists, physiotherapists, nurses, technicians and sports coaches, which lead to a very interesting discussion on various topics.

The seminar was covered by the media as well from SOS channel and Sportnetwork, and the seminar was sponsored by the friends of the Institute.

Continuing Medical Education: "Emergencies in sport"

We would like to inform all the interested physicians, dentists, biochemists, nurses and medical technicians that the national seminar of the first category, titled " Emergencies in sport" will be held on 16 May, 2016 in the premises of the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine, at the open swimming pool complex at Blagoja Parovića St 150 in Košutnjak.

The seminar is accredited by the Health Council of the Republic of Serbia (no.of accreditation A-1-847/16) for doctors, dentists, biochemists, nurses and medical technicians, with 11 points for lecturers and 6 points for participants. It was registered for 250 attendants and the attendance is free of charge.

THIRD ANNUAL CONGRESS - Association for Preventive Pediatrics Serbia (GNP ) with international participation

PREVENTION IN PEDIATRICS - BASIS FOR HEALTHY LIFE AND LONGEVITY

In Belgrade, from 15^th to 17^th April, 2016 was held the Third Annual Congress of the Association for Preventive Pediatrics of Serbia (GNP) with international participation. The theme was "Prevention in pediatrics - basis for a healthy life and longevity". Lectures were delivered by a large number of domestic and foreign professors and lecturers from all areas of pediatrics. One of the many sessions was devoted to sports medicine. In this session, as a session moderator and lecturer representing the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine was Dr Jadranka Plavsic, sports medicine specialist, with the lecture "The role and importance of sports medical checkup of children".

The doctors of the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine used this opportunity to inform other colleagues of the importance of sports medical checkups as well as to introduce all the procedures the Serbian Institute of Sport and Sports Medicine, as a unique institution with a tradition of over 60 years, performs. One of the discussions was devoted to the topic related to the implementation of the new law on sport and its importance in the prevention with the youngest population. New contacts with colleagues from other cities in Serbia and abroad were also established.
